Lee Hamilton has served as Director of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars since 1999. He joined the Wilson Center after representing Indiana in the House of Representatives from 1965 to 1999. As a member of Congress, he served on a variety of committees, including the Committee on International Relations, the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, the October Surprise Task Force, and the Select Committee to Investigate Covert Arms Transactions with Iran. Hamilton is a member of the FBI Director’s Advisory Board, the Defense Secretary’s National Security Study Group, and the US Department of Homeland Security Task Force on Preventing the Entry of Weapons of Mass Effect on American Soil. Hamilton received his BA from DePauw University, studied at the Goethe University in Frankfurt, and received his JD from Indiana University School of Law in 1956.
