Nevşin Mengü has been the nightly news anchor for CNN Türk since November of 2010. Previously, Mengü was a reporter for Hurriyet, an influential Turkish national newspaper, as well as Hurriyet Daily News, its English-language counterpart. While there, she was also a special correspondent for the Middle East, and authored an extended news series from Iran. Mengü worked as the Tehran Bureau Chief for TRT (Turkish Radio and Television) from 2009-2010, where she covered a wide range of issues related to Iran's domestic and foreign policy. She became the only foreign correspondent to conduct an exclusive interview with Marzieh Vahid Dastjerdi, Iran's first female minister. In addition, Mengü has reported for Habertürk and Kanaltürk, and covered important stories such as the Gaza War, the status of women in Kuwait, Turkish-EU relations, and the 2005 Israeli elections.

Mengü came to Washington in March 2012 to produce a feature looking at the role of religion in the presidential elections. Over two weeks, she covered the Super Tuesday primary elections, and interviewed scholars, experts, and representatives from various religious and non-religious communities to discuss how faith affects voters’ decisions. Her news stories from Washington have aired on CNN Türk’s nightly bulletin. Watch »
