AAM's eighth Tunisian town hall on minority rights
Submitted by admin on Wed, 06/20/2012 - 16:04(Washington DC – June 20, 2012) AAM’s Tunis-based office, Association Tunisie Media (ATM), partnered with leading Tunisian channel Attounsia TV to host a town hall discussion on minority rights. The event provided a forum for minority-group representatives from across the country to voice their concerns directly to government officials and civil society leaders.
The show will broadcast on Friday, June 22, on Attounsia TV.
Audience members were represented by a group of eleven participants belonging to different minorities groups in Tunisia. To see clips from the event, as well as interviews with participants, click here.
This interactive town hall format provides a unique forum for Tunisians to engage in dialogue with one another on the critical issues facing their country during the democratic transition.
Panelists included:
- Samir Dilou, Tunisia’s Minister of Human Rights and Transitional Justice
- Souad Abdelrahim, President of the Legislative Committee for Rights and Freedoms and Foreign Affairs at the Constituent Assembly
- Abdelsattar Ben Moussa, President of the Tunisian League for Human Rights
