Journalism Fellowship Program
Submitted by admin on Thu, 06/30/2011 - 03:43The AAM Journalism Fellowship Program brings prominent broadcast journalists from the Muslim World to the United States to learn about and report on key foreign and domestic issues, and to educate American journalists, experts, and policy makers about their countries and cultures.
Fellowships help deepen connections between media in the U.S. and in the Muslim world, providing unparalleled opportunities for innovative media programming, cultural exchange and professional development.
With access to a range of policymakers, academics and politicians as guests, fellows produce topical programs for their audiences back home. They also receive training on production techniques from experienced broadcast media professionals as needed.
Fellows spend time in Washington and other locations meeting with influential U.S. decision makers and experts, attending relevant events, and participating in panel discussions. They also have the opportunity to host live town hall programs bringing together audiences in Washington and their home countries, which facilitate dialogue, form relationships and lead to a better understanding between the U.S. and the Muslim world.
AAM chooses Fellows based on their professional careers and their visibility, seeking out leading media voices who can provide in-depth perspectives on the key cultural and political issues in their home countries.
